Alejandro López Ortiz

Alejandro is a member of the International Arbitration practice of Hogan Lovells, and leads this practice in Madrid.
Alejandro habitually represents companies and States in commercial and investment-treaty arbitrations.
He has acted as counsel before the major international arbitration institutions such as the ICC, ICSID, LCIA, ICDR, SIAC, the Madrid Court of Arbitration, the
Court of the Hungarian Chamber of Commerce, as well as in ad hoc arbitrations under the UNCITRAL Arbitration rules.
Alejandro sits as arbitrator for institutions such as the ICC and the Madrid Court of Arbitration. He is Spain’s representative in the ICC Task Force on the
New York Convention for recognition and enforcement of arbitral awards. He is also is a member of the Global Advisory Board of ICDR’s Y&I and, until 2011, was
one of the co-chairs of Spain’s young practitioners group CEA-40.
Before joining Hogan Lovells in 2005, Alejandro was an associate in the international arbitration boutique B. Cremades y Asociados, in Madrid.
