Carolina Dias Costa

Carolina Dias Costa restarted her career in London, UK working for the International Arbitration group at Herbert Smith LLP, after two years of practice as a Trainee and Junior Lawyer in Lisbon, Portugal.
She is an undergraduate from the Portuguese Catholic University of Lisbon Law School and recently graduated with Merit from King’s College London, where she pursued an LL.M mainly focused in International Litigation and Arbitration. Her final master’s dissertation on ‘Islamic Law and International Arbitration’, supervised by Toby Landau QC was awarded Distinction.
Carolina is a member of the Portuguese Bar Association, and of several international institutions such as the International Chamber of Commerce (Young Arbitrators Forum), the London Court of International Arbitration (Young International Arbitration Group), the British Institute of International and Comparative Law, the International Bar Association, the Institute of Islamic Banking and Insurance (UK) and the International Centre for Dispute Resolution Young & International.
She is admitted to the Portuguese Bar and is preparing her admission as a Solicitor of England as Wales. Parallel to this, she is deemed to start her PhD in International Arbitration in a London based university later in 2012.
Her main areas of practice are International Arbitration, International Commercial Litigation and Shari’a (Islamic law). Carolina speaks several languages, including Portuguese, English, French, Italian, Spanish and Arabic. She lives in London since 2009.
