David Simões

David is a Canadian lawyer who was called to the Bar in 2009. After completing a B.A. (Hons.), he studied law at Osgoode Hall Law School in Toronto.
He went on to practice litigation in a Barrister’s Chambers until 2014. Having conducted many trials by Judge alone as well as by Judge and Jury, he began to develop an interest in international arbitration. In 2014, he moved to Sweden to complete his LL.M in Investment Treaty Arbitration at Uppsala University.
Following completion of his LL.M he was admitted to a doctoral program at Universidade Nova de Lisboa where he continues to pursue his Ph.D in law with a research focus on international arbitration. In the summer of 2015 David also completed two 3 week courses: at the Arbitration Academy in Paris, as well as at the Hague Academy for International Law’s course on Private International Law. David speaks English, Portuguese and Spanish.
