Derya Durlu Gürzumar

Mrs. Derya Durlu Gürzumar graduated from Bilkent University Faculty of Law, where she was a participant in the 15th, 16th and 17th Vis Moots. She received
two Honorable Mentions in the Martin Domke Award in the 16th and 17th Vis Moots, being the sole recipient of this award from among participants attending the Vis Moot from Turkey. She also holds an LL.M. degree from the same university, with a specialization on law & economics.
Mrs. Durlu Gürzumar is a registered attorney-at-law to the Istanbul Bar Association. Her practice areas have been competition law, internet/technology law, freedom of speech matters and white-collar irregularities. She is the author of a book on “Fundamental Concepts of Anglo-American Law” published by Legal Publishing, and has published numerous articles on matters of competition law, freedom of speech, internet law, and white-collar irregularities.
Mrs. Durlu Gürzumar has also worked as a research assistant at Bilkent University Faculty of Law in the Private International Law department, focusing, in general, on private international law, and more specifically on international commercial and investment arbitration.
In 2017, she won the International Bar Association’s global essay scholarship award contest, and became the global and sole award recipient for the Alternative and New Law Business Structures Committee from Turkey, for the International Bar Association’s Annual Conference, held in Sydney, Australia on 8-13 October 2017. Her award-winning essay discussed the implications of the use of artificial intelligence in the provision of legal services. Mrs. Durlu Gürzumar is currently pursuing her research on the intersection between corruption and international commercial arbitration.
